Gods of Luxor Slots

Luxor, or the ancient Egyptian city known as Thebes, doesn't get much attention in the slots world. Gods of Luxor, however, pays homage to this former capital of Upper Egypt.

Specifically, this game focuses on the gods that Luxor natives worshiped, such as Anubis and Bastet. It does so with stunning graphics and exciting features. You can read more about the graphics and features below along with everything else that Gods of Luxor slots has to offer.

Gameplay

Gods of Luxor is a 5-reel slot that offers 20 paylines. You earn wins by getting 2+ or 3+ matching symbols in a line.

Most of the symbols require at least three symbols. Anubis, Horus, and the 9, however, only require you to land two icons.

All winning combinations have to begin in the first reel and move left to right. If you've played any payline slot before, then you should be used to this rule

We found the gameplay to be rather choppy during our session. Average-sized wins would sometimes take 30 seconds or more to add up. That said, we weren't impressed with this aspect of the game.

Graphics & Atmosphere

This slot takes place at the base of the Temple of Luxor. You'll see giant stone blocks that construct the temple on both sides. All in all, this is a pretty standard background for an Egyptian-themed slot.

The symbols are where the most artistic value can be seen. Gods of Luxor offers bright, colorful symbols that really stand out. It also features fun animations during wins.

A stereotypical Egyptian beat plays in the background every time that you spin the reels. For some reason, a helicopter-type noise kept going during our session. We're not quite sure if this is by design or a mistake, but it's annoying nonetheless.

Pay Table & Win Potential

Symbols include Anubis, Bastet, Horus, Nehebkau, Sobek, and royals (A through 9). Anubis and Horus pays the most among this bunch at 500x your line stake for five symbols.

A scarab serves as the wild symbol. It substitutes for all regular icons to form winning combinations. It also delivers a prize worth 10,000x your line stake for five.

The maximum win is worth 2,500x your total stake. This max prize is below average when compared to the industry. You can, however, win as much as $500,000 if you're willing to place the $200 top wager.

Gods of Luxor Features

In addition to being the wild and the top-paying symbol, the scarab also comes with a win multiplier. It multiplies any payout that it helps form by 2x.

Wheel of Gods can trigger following any winning spin. It features a wheel with 7 multipliers. The Wheel of Gods will stop on a multiplier, which will then multiply the triggering win.

The scatter symbol (an ankh) is the key to both free spins and special payouts. It delivers wins worth 2x (two symbols), 5x, 20x, or 100x your total bet.

You trigger 15 free spins by landing 3+ scatters anywhere on the reels. During free games, all wins will be multiplied by 3x. You can also retrigger this bonus at any time by landing another 3+ scatter symbols.

Betting Options

Betting options range from $0.20 to $200. The minimum bet puts one cent on each line, while the maximum places $10 on every payline. Autoplay lets you keep the reels spinning for anywhere from 5 to infinity spins.

You can visit the info section and choose other gameplay options as well under "Settings." These options include the ability to turn the sound effects and background music off. Unfortunately, the latter didn't get rid of the irritating helicopter-style noise.

What is the Gods of Luxor RTP?

No return to player (RTP) figure is listed for Gods of Luxor. We imagine that this game has to pay at least 95% or more, like most online slots. However, we have no way of knowing if this is truly the case.

Overall Rating on Gods of Luxor Slots

We give Gods of Luxor a 6 out of 10 rating. This game has nice symbol graphics and plenty of features. The Wheel of Gods feature is particularly interesting and helps this slot stand out from the many other Egyptian-themed games.

Downsides include the choppy gameplay and weird helicopter-type noise in the background. These are both issues that most slots don't have in today's gaming world.

If it weren't for these problems, Gods of Luxor would earn a higher rating. As it stands, though, this slot does suffer from multiple issues.
